Sidewalk Shindig at We Rock The Spectrum
Free Family-Friendly Event on May 4 to Feature Petting Zoo,
Art Activities, and Inclusive Play
SHREVEPORT, La. — Families of all ages and abilities are invited to the Sidewalk Shindig, a fun-filled community event hosted by The Arc Caddo-Bossier in partnership with We Rock the Spectrum – Shreveport. The event takes place Sunday, May 4, from Noon to 4 p.m. at 281 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, in the parking lot at the corner of Youree Drive and Southfield Road, next to Dunkin' Donuts.
The Sidewalk Shindig is a celebration of inclusion, play, and community connection—anchored by the incredible indoor gym space at We Rock the Spectrum, Shreveport’s newest inclusive play venue. The gym will be open to visitors during the event, and a portion of all admissions will benefit The Arc Caddo-Bossier, supporting local services for people with disabilities. Guests will also learn how to support The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s mission during Give for Good.
We Rock the Spectrum was founded to create a welcoming, accessible space where children of all ability levels can play and grow together. The facility features specialized sensory equipment that supports children with sensory processing disorders—but all children can benefit. The gym’s inclusive approach promotes learning through play, building empathy, confidence, and friendship.
“This gym is a game-changer for families in our community,” said Kristen Powers, Executive Director for The Arc Caddo-Bossier. “We’re excited to spotlight a space where every child is celebrated and included—values that perfectly align with our mission.”
In addition to exploring the gym, families can enjoy free outdoor festivities including games, hands-on art activities, cake walk, swag giveaways, and a petting zoo provided by Farm Ranch Zoo, a local nonprofit sanctuary and rescue for miniature farm animals. Guests will meet mini donkeys, mules, a mini horse, and goats—many of whom were rescued during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johnny’s Pizza will also be on site, selling and serving up slices, and sharing swag with attendees.
The Arc Caddo-Bossier is a private, non-profit organization that has provided essential services and support to individuals with disabilities and their families for more than 70 years. Through strong community partnerships and inclusive events like this one, The Arc continues to build a more welcoming and connected Shreveport.
