Conly Day Program

Center-Based Day Program & Community Life Engagement

The Conly Day Program, housed at the James Conly Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, provides engaging and productive activities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Serving an average of 125 participants daily, the program offers opportunities for skill development, meaningful social connections, and community involvement tailored to individual interests and goals.

Participants engage in a variety of activities, including life skills development, arts and crafts, recreational projects, social events, movie viewings, and more. Certified coordinators continuously enhance the program with person-centered care practices designed to help participants achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

The Conly Day Program is open weekdays, Monday through Friday, for adults of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing customized options to meet each individual’s needs and empower participants to thrive both within the program and in the broader community.

Named in honor of James M. Conly, Jr., a former Board Member of The Arc Caddo-Bossier and Chairman of the Board at Beaird-Poulan/Weed Eater, the program, established in 1984, is located on property donated through his efforts.

Community Life Engagement

In addition to our on-site Day Program, The Arc Caddo-Bossier also has the Community Life Engagement (CLE) Program which serves as a fun way that smaller groups (no more than 4 participants along with one staff) can venture out into Northwest Louisiana and surrounding areas. Our CLE teams serve and explore the community in ways that are endless and include volunteering, sightseeing, attending special events, eating at restaurants, etc.

The small group collectively decides what they would like to do each day along with the support of our team of staff members, or participate on scheduled days with one of our many community partners such as Christian Services, 5 Loaves 2 Fish, Northwest Louisiana Food Bank, Caddo Council on Aging Meals on Wheels, Providence House, Holy Cross’ Hope House. We are always looking for new volunteer opportunities and partners.

In addition to the smaller groups going out in the community, our on-site Day Program participants frequently have the option to venture out in the community in groups of no more than 8 participants.

Participants practice drumming with a live Kibu instructor.
