Affordable Housing

The Louisiana Disabled Persons Housing Corporation

The Louisiana Disabled Persons Housing Corporation (LADPHC) was established in 1983. Through LADPHC, The Arc Caddo-Bossier built two 12-unit apartment complexes in the Lakeshore neighborhood in Shreveport, Louisiana and the first tenants moved in during 1988.

The total of 24 units are currently managed by The Arc Caddo-Bossier. The two sites are within a block of one another, and each includes accessible apartments which have wider doors and barrier-free showers. This project is regulated by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Tenants must have a letter from social security to qualify and rent is based on social security and/or income from employment. HUD pays a portion of the rent.

Added security features are in in place related to safety at apartment sites which allows the locations to be monitored by cameras in real time. Lighting has been enhance at both locations and the complexes are patroled by on-site security personnel.
